I use this blog to share my reflections on Psychologically Driven Muscle and Motor Function Disorders with three main focuses.
1. Psychosomatic Symptomatology
- Physical Symptoms: Tremors, shaking, tics, spasms, or involuntary movements.
- Psychological Symptoms: Accompanying emotional states such as fear, anxiety, and depression, which exacerbate the physical symptoms and create a feedback loop of tension and discomfort.
2. Training for Physical Flexibility and Coordination
- Changing Movement Habits: Identifying and correcting compensatory or over-controlling movement patterns that contribute to muscle tension or dysfunction.
- Breathwork: Enhancing breathing patterns to promote relaxation and reduce physical and emotional stress. This involves diaphragmatic breathing and mindfulness techniques that encourage a natural, unstrained respiratory rhythm.
3. Psychological Causes
- Inner Conflicts: Unresolved emotional struggles, such as the tension between personal desires and external expectations, which manifest physically.
- Cognitive Dissonance: A mismatch between beliefs and actions, causing mental and emotional strain that translates into physical symptoms.
- Self-Objectification: Viewing oneself primarily through an external lens, leading to heightened self-consciousness and physical manifestations of internalized stress.
- Interpersonal Relationship Patterns: Dysfunctional relationships and attachment styles that create ongoing emotional tension, indirectly influencing muscle and motor function.
